Fundraising with LBN member Marian Graveson

“You have the best job!” It’s all fun, parties, and a little bit of cheerleading, right? Well, brace yourselves, because here’s the lowdown on fundraising: it’s like trying to herd cats while juggling flaming torches. But with a smile, of course!

Harder Than Herding Cats

Fundraising is hard work, finding volunteers is even harder, and putting on events is harder still. Asking people to part with their hard-earned cash in these trying times? Well, that’s a challenge that might make even the best of us break a sweat.

The Big ‘Why’

So why do we keep on keeping on? Why do we have bingo nights, more raffles than you can shake a stick at, Great North Runners, sponsored walks, art sales, cake stalls (we all need cake), skydiving, sports tournaments, and of course, the big flagship annual Carers Ball? The answer is simple: unpaid carers need us to keep those torches aloft.

Carers Ball Extravaganza

Now, you might be wondering what’s so fantastic about the Carers Ball.

Picture this:

🍽 A Delectable Three-Course Meal that will tantalise your taste buds

🎲 Fun Games to ignite your competitive spirit

🕺 A Dance Floor where you can groove the night away

🎁 A Raffle filled with fantastic surprises

Don’t miss out – grab your tickets here before they disappear, and dance the night away while supporting an amazing cause: https://www.trybooking.co.uk/CIMO.

But, in all seriousness, it’s not just about throwing parties and wearing fancy dresses. It’s about making a difference in the lives of those who need it most. As one unpaid carer put it, “I can’t thank you enough for the vouchers you have sent us. I am completely overwhelmed! Being a Carer is so tough, physically and emotionally, and your continued support means so much, knowing there is someone I can talk to who understands. Thank you so much for all of your hard work and amazing listening skills!”

Keeping Calm as Christmas Approaches

As the Carers Ball approaches, the pressure is on. My eye has been twitching for the past three weeks, and it won’t stop until Christmas. Ticket sales are down, but you know what they say – when the going gets tough, the tough get fundraising! With only five weeks to go, it’s all about keeping our cool and powering through with determination.
